Just like you, I used to buy all the most “current” diet foods that looked healthy, sounded healthy, seemed like things I should want, and then remember feeling discouraged when I didn’t see the changes they were promising.
I couldn’t understand why- if I was doing all the “right” things (buying the low calorie, fat free, sugar free, lite products that I thought were better for me..) I was still feeling like crap. And on top of it, I was hungry. So hungry…!
All the claims sounded great, like they made sense… until they didn’t. I started to realize how much my choices were tied into the food industry marketing, capitalizing on these trends and just looking to sell their products.
So i began doing my own research into all of this (my years in academics and studying consumer behavior kicked in big time..) I started examining the influence of the food industry even deeper, studying their marketing tactics, and why certain foods are literally irresistible (did you know that they create foods with just the right amounts of salt, fat, and sugar, to activate that “bliss point”, so you keep coming back, and buying more..? Wild.. but true..)
I spent years unlearning all of the gimmicks I once thought were helpful. And then, I re-educated myself. I became a certified health coach, and discovered what the actual health recommendations are, what all these marketing claims really mean, which of them are regulated and which are not, and last but not least: What I personally needed (this is a big one!).
It’s the knowledge and foundation that has helped my clients get back on track with their health goals, because they finally understand how to make EMPOWERED choices on their own. And it’s exactly what I want for you!
